Civil Protection Orders
Chapter 7.105 RCW
Petitions for civil protection orders can be filed for: domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, harassment, and for vulnerable adults. A petition to surrender weapons can be filed with any civil protection order petition.
A civil protection order is used to address safety and can order someone not to injure, threaten, or harass you, your family, or others. An order to surrender weapons is used to stop a restricted person from possessing weapons.
Not sure which protection order is right for you? This resource from the Protection Order Advocacy Program of the Prosecuting Attorney's Office may help.
