Dunn Urges Leaders to ‘stand for law and order’ after Seattle City Council Votes to Cut Police Budget, Chief Best Resigns

Summary

King County Council Vice Chair Reagan Dunn issued a statement in response to recent action at the Seattle City Council.

Story

Following the Seattle City Council's cuts to the SPD budget and the ensuing resignation of Police Chief Carmen Best, King County Council Vice Chair Reagan Dunn issued the following statement:

“By moving to defund its police department, the Seattle City Council is abandoning one of its central responsibilities: to keep everyday families and citizens safe. This cannot become the new normal for King County.

“No community has ever become safer with less policing. It’s time for leaders to stand for law and order.”
