Ferguson applauds landmark vote for marriage equality

Summary

Story

Following today’s vote by the Washington State House of Representatives, Metropolitan King County Councilmember Bob Ferguson issued the following statement celebrating the passage of Washington’s Marriage Equality Act:

“As a long-time advocate for marriage equality, I am elated with the state legislature’s action today to make marriage equality the law in Washington. The support to make this happen in 2012 has truly been impressive, and proponents of this legislation should be proud.

“With the approval of both the House and the Senate, the state legislature has done the right thing in standing up for the rights of all Washington residents. I look forward to Governor Gregoire’s signature making marriage equality a reality in Washington.”

The King County Council included support for marriage equality when it approved its 2012 state legislation agenda last month.
