May 6, 2025
King County Councilmember Claudia Balducci on Tuesday issued the following statement after the Council unanimously voted to approve Motion 2025-0114 which she proposed and sponsored with Councilmember Jorge L. Barón on April 3 to appoint Shannon Braddock as King County Executive through the election of a new county executive in November:
“I thank my colleagues for approving this motion and acting to empower Executive Shannon Braddock to run the county through election certification in November. For several weeks, I’ve advocated for today’s action to ensure stability in our county government at a time of national chaos, uncertainty and even attacks on our county’s service to its residents.
“Today’s action is a vote for stable, effective local government. I’m glad we have now empowered Executive Braddock enact her ‘200-day plan’ for the remainder of the Executive’s term. Braddock is a highly skilled and experienced leader who’s already tackling this challenging role with aplomb, and I’m proud to have her at the helm as we navigate our next county budget along with all the challenges and opportunities before our county.”
Also, today the Council unanimously approved Balducci’s legislation to appoint Braddock to the Sound Transit Board of Directors.
