Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer secures additional funding for Auburn pre-apprenticeship programs

September 30, 2024

Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer last week announced $125,000.00 in funding for the Auburn High School Pre-Apprenticeship Program, ensuring this program will continue serving students throughout the 2024/2025 academic year.

After touring the Auburn SD program with Superintendent Alan Spicciati, von Reichbauer said: “Whether they are considering a blue-collar or a white-collar path, students in the Auburn School District should have every opportunity available to help them succeed after high school. The pre-apprenticeship program creates additional opportunities for students to access high-paying jobs and I am pleased that it has grown in recent years.”

Councilmember von Reichbauer had an opportunity on Tuesday, Sept. 24 to tour the pre-apprenticeship program and meet with students and teachers, as well as learn more about the programs being offered in the current school year. Von Reichbauer invited King County Budget Chair Girmay Zahilay to attend the presentation because of his support of this appropriation. With this new $125,000 investment, the total amount Councilmember von Reichbauer has secured for pre-apprenticeship programs in the Auburn School District rises to $375,000.
