King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn on Wednesday sent a letter to the Washington State Patrol (WSP) asking for more information on the surge of gunfire incidents on freeways and highways in King County. Dunn also asks for opportunities to partner with WSP to address the rise in gun violence.
“As an elected official, I believe the public has a right to know all the details that WSP has to offer regarding these shootings and deserves reassurance that these incidents are being taken seriously,” Dunn wrote in the letter.
Many of the recent shooting incidents occurred along highways in south King County, in or near the district that Dunn represents on the King County Council.
In his letter, Dunn requests information on the number and nature of the shootings; the status of the investigations; what is being done in response to the increase shootings; and whether the gunfire incidents are isolated incidents or committed by repeat offenders.
