METROPOLITAN KING COUNTY COUNCIL

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Proposed Ordinance 2026-0069

Clark Lake Property Sale

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the Metropolitan King County Council will hold a public hearing on July 14, 2026, at 1:30 pm to consider adoption of Proposed Ordinance 2026-0069, an ordinance relating to the sale of the property parcel 212205-9183 located in Kent, Washington, in council district 5.

LOCATION: King County Courthouse, 516 3rd Avenue, Room 1001, Seattle; remote public testimony on Zoom will also be accepted.

HOW TO COMMENT: Written comment will be accepted from 9 am on July 2, 2026, through 10 am on July 14, 2026, by sending written comments to clerk.council@kingcounty.gov. Please include the legislation number in the subject line.

SUMMARY: It is expected that the Council will take action on this Proposed Ordinance at the July 14, 2026, meeting.

The Proposed Ordinance would approve the sale of a 179,467 square feet of county owned property located in the City of Kent, for $114,350. The property was purchased by the Road Services Division in 1997 under an interlocal agreement wherein the City of Kent would reimburse the County for half of the acquisition costs and that the property would be transferred to the City for exclusive use as park and open space. However, the City of Kent did not reimburse the County, and the property was never conveyed to the City.

Sale of the property for the original 1997 property values would satisfy the obligations of the original interlocal agreement, will provide one-time revenues to the Roads Fund, and relieve the County of assessments totaling $20.42 per year.

FINAL ACTION:

Prior to final action, Councilmembers may offer amendments for consideration by the Council.  Persons wishing to testify on the Proposed Ordinance should attend the public hearing in person or remotely on July 14, 2026, or provide testimony in writing prior to the hearing.  Amendments that may be considered for adoption by the Council include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Engrossing changes made by other ordinances.
  • Making technical corrections, clarifications to terminology, and streamlining of language that does not change the intent.
  • Any amendment offered, or relating to topics discussed, during the review of the subject legislation in committee.
  • Any matter preserved for consideration by the Council by a member during previous committee meetings.
  • Any amendment contained in the Executive’s version of the subject legislation.
  • Any amendment related to retaining and/or modifying Executive offices proposed for removal from King County Code or related concepts.
