NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a public hearing will be held before the Metropolitan King County Council on the 23rd day of June, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. to consider adoption of Proposed Ordinance 2025-0286, an ordinance authorizing the execution of a franchise agreement with HyperFiber of Washington, LLC, for the construction, operation, and maintenance of wireline telecommunications transmission facilities. The public hearing will be held at the King County Courthouse, 516 3rd Avenue, Room 1001, Seattle; remote public testimony on Zoom will also be accepted. Written public testimony will be accepted from 9 a.m. on June 18th, 2026, through 10 a.m. on June 23rd, 2026, by sending such public testimony to clerk.council@kingcounty.gov. Please include the legislation number and related agenda item in the subject line. SUMMARY

King County is proposing this ordinance to authorize the execution of a franchise agreement with the HyperFiber of Washington, LLC, for the use of certain road rights-of-way (ROW) in unincorporated King County for the construction, operation, and maintenance of wireline telecommunications transmission facilities. The specific terms of the proposed franchise agreement, as well as section, township, and range references for the County road ROW included in the agreement, can be found at the internet link to the proposed ordinance provided in this notice.

Final Action:

Prior to final action, Councilmembers may offer amendments for consideration by the Council.  Persons wishing to testify on the Proposed Ordinance should attend the public hearing in person or remotely on June 23, 2026, or provide testimony in writing prior to the hearing.
