Domestic Violence (DV) Court
DV Court overview
The goals of the DV Court are to promote fairness, accountability, and the coordination of services for victim/survivors and their families. These goals are accomplished by:
- Consolidating DV cases
- Fast tracking case processing to minimize delays
- Specialized DV Probation supervision
The DV Judge, Prosecutors, Defense Attorneys, Probation Officers, and Victim Advocates all are assigned to the DV Court to ensure continuity.
Victim/survivor assistance
Victims/survivors are assisted throughout the process by a DV Advocate who works with the Prosecutor. The Victim Advocate assists victim/survivors with developing safety plans and provides referrals to a variety of social service resources on a voluntary basis.
