Join JumpStart to build valuable skills and experience in fast-growing industries. Here’s what you can expect:
  • Get paid as you learn. You’ll earn $25 an hour during a 240-hour internship or work-based learning role, which can be completed in 6 weeks full-time or 12 weeks part-time.

Eligibility

General requirements

  • You must be at least 18 years old on the first day of the program.
  • You need a high school diploma or GED. This program is for people who do not have a four-year college degree. Some college, an associate degree, technical training, certifications, or military experience are all acceptable.
  • You must have a physical Social Security Card and a photo ID, like a Washington ID, driver’s license, passport, or school ID.
  • You should be able and willing to leave your current job or take a leave of absence to complete a 6- to 12-week JumpStart paid work-based learning role, which totals 240 hours.

Background requirements 

  • No history of convictions for violent offenses (misdemeanor or felony)
  • No history of convictions for sexually related offenses (misdemeanor or felony)
  • No history of convictions for identity theft (misdemeanor or felony)
  • At least two years must have passed since any criminal offenses, whether they are still pending or have been resolved.

Role requirements

JumpStart offers opportunities in different roles. Each role has its own requirements. Once you are admitted, we will help connect you with a local business in our network that matches your career goals.

Successful Candidates:

  • You must have a driver’s license if you are interested in trades roles.
  • You need reliable transportation, and it is strongly preferred that you have your own vehicle.
  • You should be able to work in virtual, in-person, or hybrid settings if you are interested in project management roles.
  • You need computer skills for project management roles.
  • You should have strong communication skills.
  • You should be open to learning and growing.
