Medicare Savings Program (seniors and disabled)

Medicare Savings Program

Medicare Savings Programs help Medicare recipients pay for all or part of their Medicare premiums. Eligibility is based on those who meet income requirements. As of January 1, 2023, Washington state has eliminated the resource requirements for individuals and couples applying for Medicare Savings Programs.

Income

Qualified Medicare Beneficiary Program (QMB)

QMB pays your Part B Medicare premium, and the cost, if any, of your Part A premium. QMB also pays your Medicare co-payments and deductibles. To be eligible your income must be no more than:

  • $1,483 per month for one person, or
  • $2,004 per month for a couple

Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary Program (SLMB)

  • $1,616 per month for one person, or
  • $2,185 per month for a couple

Qualified Individual (QI-1) Program

  • $1,855 per month for one person, or
  • $2,510 per month for a couple
