Community engagement

Communities served by the Sheriff’s Office play an invaluable role in King County’s law enforcement oversight work. OLEO aims to meaningfully engage these diverse stakeholders and communities to participate in the decisions that impact them and to inform our oversight priorities.

Partner with us

We are continuously seeking ways to engage community members’ input to gain diverse perspectives of policing best practices and standards for accountability.

One way we're doing this is with a new work model for doing policy reviews. With our Community Guided Framework for policy reviews, OLEO will enter into Memoranda of Agreements with community organizations to better create two-way communication between OLEO and the communities we serve.

This approach will focus on those most affected by policing in King County, including vulnerable populations like BIPOC, youth, people with disabilities, people experiencing homelessness, people dealing with mental/behavioral health or substance use issues, and others.
