King County is excited to introduce ProjectDox, a digital plan review tool provided by Avolve Software. Learn more about this development in the world of permitting technology, below.
What is ProjectDox?
ProjectDox is a new web-based digital plan review tool that helps with building permit reviews. It makes the process more visible for applicants, reviewers, and staff. Here’s what you need to know:
What Does ProjectDox Do?
- ProjectDox lets applicants and the County share building plans and make comments and corrections to them in one location.
- You can communicate with the County directly within the system.
- Check your application status anytime.
- Invite your team to contribute on your project.
Who Uses ProjectDox?
- Starting October 21, 2024, building permit applications accepted for subject matter expert screening will be processed in ProjectDox, after initial submittal to Mybuildingpermit.com.
- Here’s how it works:
- Submit your application in the existing Mybuildingpermit (MBP) portal.*
- After intake, you’ll receive an invitation to create a ProjectDox account.
- Upload all your submittal documents and drawings to ProjectDox.
- Follow the remaining steps for screening, review, and any needed updates. ProjectDox will guide you with step-by-step instructions and how-to videos.
- Here’s how it works:
New electronic document submittal requirements:
- Make sure your uploaded drawings and documents follow King County’s File Naming Conventions and pdf submittal standards.
- Leave a 3”x3” space in the lower right-hand corner of each plan sheet for the KC stamp of approval.

*Commercial and Multi-family building applications are submitted via email. When your application is accepted for subject matter expert screening, you will be invited to register and log in to ProjectDox.
