Following the announcement of a death of an in-custody individual this week, King County Executive Dow Constantine issued the following statement: 

"On behalf of all King County residents and employees, I’m saddened by this tragedy and wish to extend our shared condolences to the family of the individual who died.

"Early reports indicate all safety protocols were followed. As with any incident of this nature, jail staff is now conducting an investigation. I have already assured Director Nance that resources will be made immediately available if the investigation identifies any needed modifications to the jail’s facilities, training or policies that could help prevent a similar tragedy from occurring in the future."
