Story
King County Executive Dow Constantine tonight mourned the passing of William P. Gerberding, the longest-serving president of the University of Washington:
“Bill Gerberding was the president of UW during my entire college career, arriving the year before I enrolled as a freshman in 1980, and retiring three years after I completed my Master’s degree. I got to know him better once I became an elected official, and saw all that he did throughout his 'retirement' to better our community. His leadership not only dramatically enhanced UW’s national reputation – it created our future leaders."
