Community-based organization (CBO) activities
A diverse set of community-based organizations (CBO) are working hard to end HIV in King County. In addition to their longstanding commitment and current efforts to prevent HIV and support people living with HIV, CBOs will be implementing the following activities:
Housing case management services
- Bailey Boushay House is providing-medical case-management and outreach to PLWH who are living unhoused or experiencing homelessness within King County to support their preparation for and successful retention in permanent housing while working to assure their linkage to low barrier HIV clinical services and adherence to HIV medications while living unhoused and/or while developing stability in permanent housing.
Testing and prevention projects
EHE provided pilot funds for the following venue based and outreach testing activities.
- Seattle’s LGBTQ+ Center piloted a new hybrid mobile HIV/STI testing program with linkage to PrEP and HIV care services, including partnering with CBOs and HCOs in South King County. These services are continuing and are now supported through non-EHE funding
- POCAAN expanded its high impact HIV testing and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) through the expansion of its street, community, and internet outreach team. These services are continuing and are now supported through non-EHE funding
- Center for Multicultural Health hosted events led by focusing on stigma reduction and HIV/STI testing, PrEP linkage, and linkage to care and support focused on African-born Black populations.
- Harambee! YMCA of Greater Seattle and UW partnered to address the HIV epidemic within the East African community by reducing HIV stigma and offering HIV testing combined with other preventative health screenings in faith-based settings through the use of Community Health Navigators.
