Play Area Rehabilitation

A colorful new modern looking play area

We have 29 play areas in our parks. We conduct annual safety inspections and remove, replace and/or modify play areas as needed for safety and life cycle maintenance. Each play area rehabilitation project takes approximately 8 to 10 weeks to construct; however, construction is weather dependent and is subject to change. We met our goal of rehabilitating 13 play areas as part of 2014-2019 levy, including improving ADA access at nine of them.

During the 2020-2025 King County Parks, Recreation, Trails and Open Space Levy, our goal is to improve seven play areas including:

In Progress:

Boulevard Lane Park – Planning is underway with construction estimated for late spring or summer 2025

Petrovitsky Park - Splash pad installation in 2027.

Completed projects:

Dockton Park - Completed 2024

Marymoor North 5-12 age area - Completed in 2020

Skyway Park –Completed 2023

Preston Athletic Fields (curbing, drainage, and ADA access only) – Completed 2023
