Publications about noxious weeds in King County, Washington.

Organized by general materials, guides for individual species as available, and translated materials. Most of our brochures and publications are available for download from the links listed below. Pocket-size field guide to 29 noxious weeds found in King County, Washington. Photos, impacts, regulation status, and methods of control are listed for each weed. This publication also includes a brief introduction to our program, noxious weeds, weed laws, and landowner responsibilities. Last revised in 2019.

The official King County Noxious Weed List. Weeds are listed within their respective class groupings alphabetically by common name. This list names every weed species by common and scientific name, indicates its classification/regulatory status, and notes if the species is present in King County, Washington. Any recent changes or updates are noted in the footnote section at the end.

Identical to the A to Z by common name document except species are listed within their respective class groupings alphabetically by scientific name.

Brochure of the Washington State Prohibited Plants List. This publication lists the regulated plant species that cannot be sold, bought, distributed, transported, or propagated in the state of Washington. This list of species is both regulated and put out by the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA). This list is different from the noxious weed list, though there is overlap.

18-page booklet which offers several non-invasive alternatives for 17 invasive ornamental and noxious weeds in Western Washington. This publication was produced by the WA State Noxious Weed Control Board in collaboration with the Washington Invasive Species Coalition and the Washington State Nursery and Landscape Association.

58-page booklet about toxic noxious weeds and other plants that are toxic to horses, livestock, and even chickens. It includes sections on: plant toxicity; integrated pest management for pastures; identification, symptomology, actions to take if you suspect toxic plant exposure, and control of over 21 toxic plant species, and choosing hay.

29-page booklet on aquatic weeds found in King County, Washington. 18 individual species pages organized by growth habit (under, atop, or near the water) includes photos, identification tips, impacts, habitat, control methods, look-alikes, and legal status for each species. This publication also includes an introduction on aquatic plants, permitting, control requirements, and other resources.

A technical guide to noxious weed regulation in King County Washington. This document looks in-depth at the regulation and understanding of noxious weed laws, pesticide laws, and noxious weeds in aquatic and other critical areas.

Publications by weed common name or group. Fact Sheets can be printed as a single sheet, double-sided. Best Management Practices are longer and go into more detail about species impacts and control considerations. Please note some publications have outdated names, please refer to the listed name as the most up to date name.
