Livestock Program

King County has environmental rules about keeping livestock in unincorporated King County. This page provides an overview of those rules and support that may be available on this topic.

The Livestock Program implements the Livestock Management Ordinance. The Ordinance (King County Code 21A.30) sets rules about keeping livestock in a way that reduces impacts on the environment. It calls for farm plans and Best Management Practices on properties with livestock. Learn more about farm plans.

The Livestock Program offers funding for high priority Best Management Practices. These practices include manure storage, stream and wetland buffer fencing and livestock confinement areas.
