Judge Nathaniel Green
Judge Nathaniel Green grew up in Tacoma, Washington, where he graduated from Mt. Tahoma High School. While in high school he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Later, he graduated from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland, in 1979, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in operations analysis.
After Annapolis, Judge Green reported for duty as an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) officer aboard the USS Robert E. Peary (FF-1073) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. His additional service in the Navy included roles as navigator aboard a fleet oiler, USS Willamette (AO-180); and as ASW Department Head at Fleet Training Group, Pearl Harbor. While serving as a naval officer, Judge Green traveled extensively throughout the Pacific and Indian Oceans, visiting the Philippines, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and Kenya.
During his last two years in the Navy, Judge Green earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Chaminade University of Honolulu. He left the Navy in 1987, and entered the University of Washington School of Law, graduating in 1990.
His most significant civil law experience includes working as an associate attorney for Davis Wright Tremaine’s bankruptcy and employment law departments, and as a trial attorney for Hollenbeck, Lancaster, Miller & Andrews (the litigation department for Farmers Insurance Company).
Judge Green has served as a “conflicts public defender” for the cities of Kent and Renton, and as an adjunct professor of business law and employment law for DeVry University’s Keller School of Graduate Management. He joined the King County District Court bench in 2011.
